Assistant Editor
Dr. Manisha Yadav, is currently working as Assistant Professor, in the division of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research, University of Delhi. She did her Ph.D. from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India in 2005. She was awarded “Major General Amir Chand Medal for Research” for her PhD research. After her PhD, she joined as a Postdoctoral fellow and later as Research Assistant in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Glycobiology of Lund University, Sweden. She co-supervised several graduate and medical students at Lund University. She worked to investigate the molecular basis of host cell signalling in innate immune responses to uropathogenic Escherichia coli and the disease association of the responsible genes. Dr Yadav has published her research in high impact journals like Nature Medicine and PLoS Pathogen. Currently, Dr Manisha Yadav is working to identify the host receptors and the host-parasite’s pathways involved in the symptomatic and asymptomatic sequelae and immune evasion caused by Trichomonas vaginalis, Sepsis and Urinary Tract Infections. In addition, she is working to identify the host molecules responsible for acute inflammation and particular virulence factors triggering the inflammatory pathway after Uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC) infection. Ultimate objective of her group is to identify the target molecule(s) either in the host or in bacteria that may be exploited for diseases therapeutics. Dr Manisha is a prolific reviewer in many of international peer review journals mainly in the area of Microbiology. She holds many academic and administrative positions in Delhi University and other Universities. Dr. Manisha Yadav has been invited regularly for lectures in her area of expertise on institutional, National and international levels. Her awards are, Rapid Grant for Young Investigator Award (RGYI) from DBT, New Delhi. 2012; FAST track for Young Scientist Award from DST, New Delhi. 2011; Awarded Maggie Stephens Stiftelse for attending 60th Annual Conference of the Canadian Society of Microbiologists, at Hamilton, Canada. 2010; and Bill and Melinda Gates foundation ICOPA bursary for participating in IX International Congress of Parasitology, Glasgow, Scotland, UK, in 2006.
