Dr. Surender Singh Narta has an Academic background in Commerce with several outstanding achievements as a bright student including National/Merit scholarships during schooling, at UG and University level, besides National Research Fellowships during Masters, M. Phil and Doctoral Research. He started his research career by working on Development Banks and Small Scale Industries in India during his M. Phil. research and later on conducted a detailed study of Progress and Practices of Capital Issues in India, which was highly recommended and was awarded Ph. D. Degree.
Dr. Narta, Former Chairman, in the Deptt. of Commerce, is associated with Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla (India) for the last 25 years where he has been successfully working in area of Finance, Banking and Accounting besides teaching students for M.Com, MBA, MFC, MIBM, MCA, BBA, BCA and DAT Degrees. He has successfully guided fifteen students for Ph.D. Degree and 80 students were awarded M.Phil. Degree. Dr. Narta has also guided 90 Master’s students of Business Administration (MBA), MFC and more than 100 Students of BBA on various Projects. Presently, Dr. Surender Narta is a Professor in the Department of Commerce, and Director, University College of Business Studies, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.
Dr. Narta has also successfully completed several Research Projects (funded by UGC, World Bank, SSA, IIHS, IIAS, MoHRD-GoI) on Development Banks, Cooperatives, Drop-out School Children & several important issues related to the Horticulturists. He is also a Resource Person with National Academy of Accounts & Audit of Probationers of All India Civil Services. Dr. Narta has also been associated with All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan Kendra, Shimla as an expert for the last fifteen years where he has also been giving Radio & T. V. Talks.
Dr. Surender Narta has more than 70 research papers to his credit published in Journals of repute and has presented several research papers in National /International Conferences/seminars and has also published 12 Books .Besides this, Dr. Narta is also a Member/ Life Member/ Honorary Member of several academic bodies and is also in the editorial boards of National/ International referred Journals. Dr. Narta is founder President of Commerce and Management Association of India (CMAI).
