Dr. S. Mohana Roopan, is currently working as Assistant Professor (Senior), in Organic Chemistry Division, School of Advanced Sciences, VIT University, Vellore – 632014, Tamil Nadu, India. His PhD thesis was on “Synthesis of nitrogen Heterocyclic compounds and their biological properties-Quinolines, Indolines, Quinazolinones, Luotonins”, done at VIT University, Vellore, T.N. India. His achievements are- In 2006: University III rank holder (8.6 GCPA out of 10). In 2009-2010: Three of my article is selected as most important reaction in organic and organometallic chemistry by WILEY-VCH Cheminform, which covers more than 200 International Journals. In 2010: Received Research Award – 2011 (Contribution towards publication) from VIT University, Vellore. In 2011:Received Research Award – 2012 (Contribution towards publication and grant) from VIT University, Vellore. In 2012: Received Research Award – 2013 (Contribution towards publication and grant) from VIT University, Vellore. In 2013: Received Young Scientist Award DBT- RGYI-2013. In 2013: Received Young Scientist Award DST- FTYS-2013. In 2013 received research award – 2013 (Contribution towards publication and grant) from VIT University, Vellore. He has several papers, a project and 2 patents to his credit. His research interests are; Discovery and development of new synthetic methodologies for the synthesis of architecturally complex natural products or lead compounds having pharmacological importance. Development of new catalyst and their application in the field of organic synthesis. Synthesis and larvicidal activity of Nitrogen heterocyclic compounds. Biosynthesis of nanoparticles and its catalytic application in the heterocyclic ring construction. Isolation and identification of biologically active compounds from the Indian medicinal plants.
