Dr. Peralam Yegneswaran Prakash, graduated from St. Aloysius college, Mangalore and did his Masters degree in Medical Microbiology from Kasturba Medical College securing 1st rank from Manipal University. Presently working as Faculty of Medicine, Assistant Professor in Microbiology at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University and is In-charge for the Medical Mycology Laboratory at Kasturba Medical college, Manipal. He had been invited as a Guest Researcher at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Mycotic Diseases Branch, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and is a recipient of Indian Academy of Sciences – Indian National Science Academy – The National Academy of Sciences, Summer Research Fellowship in 2008. He is actively involved with the Society of Indian Human and Animal Mycology and Mycological Society of India and is presently involved with National and International collaborative projects in the field of Medical Mycology. He has extensively presented and published scientific papers pertaining to Medical mycology and has been nominated for the Department of Science and Technology – Government of Karnataka Seed money for Young Scientist Research. He has recently been elected as the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology young mycologists representative for the Asia Pacific countries. He is member of International Forum of Teachers of UNESCO Chair in Bioethics and involved with the Physicians & Scientists of Mycoses Study Group Education & Research Consortium (MSGERC). In 2014 he received Distinguished Alumnus award from his alma mater.
