Dr.Intelli Kaur is a Ph.D. candidate in Food and Nutrition research at Lovely Professional University, India. Her research focuses on nutritional, physicochemical composition and biological activity estimation of foods using in vitro and in vivo models. During her career as nutrition researcher, Intelli was invited by Iowa State University, Ames, USA as a visiting research scholar on scholarship basis where she undertook training on “Nutrition research and Clinical trials” under esteemed guidance of Dr. Manju Reddy, a renowned researcher and Professor, Human Nutrition, Iowa state university, USA.
Prior to starting her Ph.D. program, she completed her Masters (MSc.) in Food and Nutrition from Panjab University, Chandigarh and honored with a silver medal for her distinguished academic performance. Intelli has also worked as a Dietician in prominent hospitals like Dayanand Medical College and Apollo hospitals, Ludhiana, India. She is a lifetime member of Indian Dietetic Association (IDA). During her career as a dietician, Intelli developed an interest to research on food composition and their benefits in various diseases. She believes that food plays a major role in promoting health. Intelli, also attended World Food Prize Conference, 2013 held at Des Moines, USA, where she learnt about global food insecurity and potential of underutilized/neglected crops to combat this global demon. Hence, she decided to work on nutritionally significant underutilized grains. Currently, she is working on the nutritional composition of underutized pseudo-cereals and their potential health benefits in dyslipidemia and hypercholesterolemia in animal models. She has also published her research work with Thomson Reuters and Scopus indexed journals. Her motto is to spread awareness about underutilized, neglected crops/foods and explore their health benefits for amelioration of global health.
