Dr. Farheen Fatima

I am Dr. Farheen Fatima, serving as assistant professor, teaching diagnostic microbiology and diagnostic parasitology at the faculty of applied medical sciences affiliated to University of Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. I graduated from government science college affiliated to Kuvempu university, India with microbiology, biochemistry and botany as my subjects of study. I then, did my post-graduation specializing in medical microbiology from one of the most reputed university- Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India. I conferred doctorate in medical microbiology from Vinayaka Mission University, Salem. My thesis was primarily addressed to biochemical alterations in Staphylococcus aureus induced by a garlic phytochemical compound. It strives to address certain changes in biochemical parameters in the staphylococcal cells when exposed to the compound in order to explore possible mechanism of action of the compound as an antimicrobial agent.

I have worked as a team leader in many such epidemiologic surveys centering microbial and parasitic infections in children. These studies have contributed much in the control of parasitic infestations and established databases for future researches on the topic. While working together with medical professionals, microbiologists and biochemist. I have extended my work in sero-epidemiology, microbiology, parasitology and biochemical contents of microbes. As of the moment I am working with the desert herbs to explore their individual and synergistic antimicrobial potential.

I am an avid supporter of researches focusing on herbs and phytochemicals to explore their antimicrobial potentials. My interests also include the cross sectional studies discussing the microbial and parasitic epidemiology serving in prevention and prophylaxis of infections in an area; which also is a major help in contribution for upbringing of a healthy community.
