Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore, India Dr.Jayachndran gained his BDS in 1991 and MDS in 1996 from A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore University, Mangalore., India. Research interest: Immunopathogenesis of Oral Diseases: The role of immune response in the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory diseases has always been my core interest. As a part of my Doctor of Philosophy degree, completed under the supervision of Professor Gregory Seymour, Professor Alison Rich, Dr. Trudy Milne and Dr. Dawn Coates, I investigated the role of Regulatory T-cells and Th17 cells in the pathogenesis of periodontal disease using a variety of immunohistological and molecular techniques such as Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence, qPCR and ELISA. Acquiring an in depth knowledge about immunological mechanisms and gaining essential research skills, especially in area of research project development and immunohistological and molecular techniques, has further led me to investigate the immunopathological mechanisms underlying in the other oral chronic inflammatory diseases such as Oral Mucosal Lichen Planus and Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
My current research interest focuses on the role of microRNA in chronic inflammatory periodontal tissues. To date there are no studies that investigated the expression profile of miRs and their immunomodulatory role in periodontal health and disease in New Zealand population. I wish to expand and further develop this research line in collaboration with in-house, inter-departmental, local, and overseas faculty. The results of this study will help to identify the putative miRs biomarkers that play a role in periodontal disease process and also help to develop novel therapeutic strategies to improve patient management.

Dr. Rajvir Malik
Dr. Rajvir Malik Graduated (BDS) in 1999 from D.A.V. (C) Dental College, Yamunanagar, Haryana, India. He received his Masters (MDS) in Periodontics from King George’s Medical University (Erstwhile KGMC), India in 2003. He joined his alma mater as Senior Lecturer. He is presently serving as Professor Periodontology and Oral Implantology, at D. V. C.Dental college Yamunanagar. Besides Periodontics, he also taught in the subject of Dental Anatomy and Histology.
He is the founding Head of Department for the Dental Hygienist course at MM College of Dental Sciences and Research.He got promoted as Professor in 2011. He is the subject expert for UG exams in the subjects of Dental Anatomy and Histology, Preventive & Community Dentistry, Oral Medicine and Dental Hygienist course along with Periodontics. He also serves as Subject Expert for PG exam in the subject of Periodontology and Oral Implantology at various universities throughout India for setting question papers, evaluation of answer sheets, besides conducting practical and viva voce.
He is an active member of Indian Society of Periodontology, International Association of Dental Research and Indian Dental Association, serving on many- a posts at its Yamunanagar Branch.He Published more than 25 Scientific Papers (mostly in peer reviewed, PUBMED Indexed) Journals and is Member Editorial Board/Peer Reviewer in more than ten Journals. He had authored two eBooks also. He is a UNESCO Certified teacher on Bioethics.
His areas of research are mainly Impact of Psycho-Social status on Periodontal Healthand Diseases, Role and Status of Immunity in causation/maintenance of Periodontal Health and Diseases, Soft and Hard Tissue Regeneration, apart from various aspects of dental Implants. Dr. Shouvik Chowdhury
Dr. Shouvik Chowdhury has completed BDS and MDS in oral & Maxillofacial surgery from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health sciences, Karnataka and Fellowship in advance maxillofacial surgery and implantology from Hosmat Hospital, Bangalore along with Fellowship in Aesthetic medicine from Institute of Laser and aesthetic medicine recognized by Griefswald University, Germany.

Dr. Jothi Varghese, completed her Bachelors in dental surgery and Masters in speciality of Periodontology from Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal University, Manipal, Karnataka, India.
On completion of post-graduation, she continued her professional trail in her alma mater and is currently an Associate Professor. Her zeal to academic development, inspired her to obtain a certification in Laser Dentistry and Bioethics from the Manipal University. She is a guide to post graduates. Before my post graduation I had done 1 year of junior resident in Mulana Azad Institute of Dental sciences. Areas of interest

Loredana Cerroni has obtained a degree in Biological Science in 1986 and has achieved the title of Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 1992 both from University of Rome Tor Vergata. Since 1996 is permanent researcher at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. In 1998 was qualified expert in the sector (instruments and dental materials) (EAC N° 17.38) from DNV (Det Norske Veritas) in the CE marking Medical devices. has taken an expert in a contract concluded between DNV and University of Rome "Tor Vergata". Has obtained a degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthesis in 2000 from the University of Rome Tor Vergata and a Master in “Periodontal Disease ”, from the University of Rome "Sapienza". From January 2001 is structured at the University Hospital Policlinico Tor Vergata.
