Dr. Biman B. Mandal,is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Guwahati, Assam, India. His educational qualifications are, M.Sc. (Biotechnology), Department of Biotechnology, HPU, Shimla, India; Ph.D. (Biotechnology), Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India; and Post Doctoral Research Associate, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Tufts University, USA. His research interests are, Smart Biomaterials; Stem cells; Tissue engineering; and Drug delivery. He has several international peer reviewed publications, including in journals such as PNAS; Biomaterials; Tissue Engineering; and Biotechnology Bioengineering. He has three US patents as main/lead inventor; three chapters; Journal cover page: 04 (in PNAS, Biotechnology & Bioengineering and 2 in Macromolecular Bioscience) and 29 presentations (Invited/Oral talks/Abstracts presented in International/National Symposia/conferences) to his credit. His awards won are, Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award (GYTI- 2014) by Dr. R.A. Mashelkar at IIM Ahmedabad; INSPIRE Faculty award 2013 by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India; NASI-Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Award 2013 by National Academy of Sciences India; DST-FAST TRACK Young Investigator Grant Award 2013 by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India; MAHE Award 2012 at BIND International Conference, IISC, Bangalore, India; Rapid Grants for Young Investigator (RGYI) award 2012 by Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India; Young Scientist Research Grant Award 2011 by Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India; and SYIS Young Investigator Award, TERMIS AP 2011, Singapore.
