Ms. Garyfalia Charitaki

Ms. Garyfalia Charitaki is a Doctor in Special Education and Psychology of the Faculty of Primary Education, University of Athens. She studied Pure Mathematics with Specialization in Didactics of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics of University of Athens. She holds a Master's degree in Didactics and Methodology of Mathematics and another one in School Psychology. She has been specialized in education and early intervention of students with intellectual disabilities in general and more specifically, of students with Down syndrome. Over the last 6 years she has worked in various structures of special education as part of integration and parallel support. At the same time, last year, she has been working in higher education as a lecturer of Research Methodology in Master of Special Education Program of Athens Metropolitan College in collaboration with the University of East London. She has more than 25 published papers in Greek and International journals. She has participated as a speaker at conferences and in invited lectures in Greece and abroad. She has also served as member of organizing conference and reviewers committees in Greek and International conferences. Under investigation solving skills of word division problems of students with mild intellectual disability, she developed the software "Hidden Treasure", which was designed for individualized intervention in teaching division strategies.
